Julio Mendossa
"My
work is the expression of an abstract gaze on reality. I begin to work
without a preconceived concept and allow the surface, materials and free-flowing
ideas to dictate the outcome. This method frees me from the dictates
of convention or the restrictions of following a routine. I am best
working at a fast pace while experimenting with new materials; I work on many
pieces at the same time.
My work is about discovering form and color and creating new dimension
through the overlapping of elements. If something is not working, I
use it as part of the process of continual manipulation to achieve the desired
effect. I work most often in a series, each piece being autonomous
but part of a whole."
